We ordered 4 goumi berry bushes "Tillamook" from Lucile in 1 gal pots. They arrived perfectly about a week later (we are across the country in Michigan) and the way they were packaged was an engineering feat , for sure! Not a leaf was damaged. The goumis are all planted up now and happy as can be. Very impressed. Definitely take a chance with Lucile at Whitman Farms even if the ordering process seems unconventional in today's online shopping landscape. I am so glad we did, especially bc we couldn't find goumis anywhere else!! Thank you Lucile!

Was for certain I would love to place based on other peopleβs recommendations, but I called left a message was told to text. I texted for over a month and canβt get a response. itβs hard to support business if they donβt communicate with you.

Bad experience. One the location is EXTREMELY hard to get to and the signs leading there making no sense. I ended up somewhere else and the guy who redirected me, not only was a jerk but was also mad how people always bother him when trying to finding the nursery. Second we were told our tree would be ready whenever this week and I show up and she told me it hasnβt event even been dug and I had to wait for it. She also kept repeating βI told you not till Wednesdayβ, that never happened. Third I run a landscaping business and have all the correct licenses to plant. The way she tried to educate me on planting this 3 ft tree was humiliating. Go somewhere cleaner, organized and prepared.

I ordered a coral lake magnolia tree to be shipped from Salem to Baltimore. I ended up receiving a tree that is over 3 feet tall in a quart container. I think there was some delays on the part of FedEx, not Lucileβs fault. The tree came still very moist, not overwatered though, and came out the box perfectly. A testament to the shipper. Thank you so much, Lucile! I canβt wait to see the spring blossoms!

Can't believe I haven't written about this place before. I wouldn't buy my trees and plants from anywhere else without checking Whitman's offerings first. I have installed 10 different Kousa Dogwood trees chosen with Lucille's wise assistance. I adore them not just for the gorgeous blooms in early summer but for the season long interest the variegated leaves add to my landscape. Prices are better than other local nurseries and plants have all thrived with field grown trees having been planted in a special bag system which seems to make transplanting less traumatic. I believe Lucille does most of her business through mail order so you don't have to be in the Salem, Oregon area to benefit. Whitman Farm is local treasure. (Photos are some of the young Whitman trees installed the previous Spring...Cornus Kousa Dogwoods Summer Fun, Championβs Gold, Milky Way, Akatsuki, Wolf Eyes and last photo is Redbud Rising Sun.)
